I am new to using the Wilton gold color spray (or any spray for that matter). I need to make a ganache covered cake, with buttercream scrolls on the sides for decoration. I want them to have a slightly golden color, but on a test cake I made today, found that even when trying to cover the ganache part of the cake with paper towel to protect it, the spray still hits it and turns the rest of the cake golden.
Would it be possible to spray some of the gold spray right into the buttercream while I am mixing it, and then pipe it onto the cake, and STILL get the shimmery effect? Or would the spray just completely dissolve into the buttercream?
I just want a nice sheen on the scrolls without having to go through the trouble of painting them with lustre dust.
Thanks for the advice!
