AOk here's my dilemma. My husband's cousin wants me to make a onesie cake for a sprinkle baby shower for her sister. She's asked me three times how I will decorate/what design I am going to use on the cake. Each time she's asked, I've asked her if they have a color scheme/theme of the party and she says they do not. Ive thrown out a couple of ideas and she doesn't respond to them. They do not know the gender, so it has to be neutral. I've looked online at designs, but I'm coming up empty. I don't want to spend all my time researching and throwing ideas out because, of course, she wants the cake at a discount.
I'm just not sure how I can get a response from her. Anyone experienced this/have any advice?
You didn't mention your skill level... but here is one that is right here on cake central...
You can also just google "baby onsie cake" in google images...
Since they don't know if it is a boy or girl, you could always make the onsie cake and decorate half the onsie with blue and the other half with pink and put a green zig zag down the middle...
If they are paying for it, and seem this indecisive, I would just give them two or three options and a deadline for a response...
If they haven't given you a retainer yet, you can always pull the standard line that you are now booked for the date...
AAs for ideas, have you looked on Pinterest? I just did a search, there are a bunch of really cute ideas that may help.
Find something you like, pass it along to her and say "if you don't have objections, I'm doing this design with xyz colors."
AThanks, I'm not so concerned with ideas as I am trying to get her to commit to something, anything at this point.
AYou need to tell her if she has no input on ideas than you'll just do what your heart desires....its probably better that way than they won't have expected something and you come up with something different. Doing a white onesie with pink and blue fondant dots would be easy and cute
It sounds like she may think she has already told you what she would like. You can rule out a blue or a pink onesie. I would make a onesie out of a sheet cake and put yellow and pale green accents on it. Or you could put a cute animal print on it. Sounds like she's not too concerned, so just have fun being creative.
AThanks everyone. Unfortunately there isn't an invite to go by. I told her my finall idea (white onesie with owl on it with "whooo will i be?" wording) and let her know that this is what I am going with unless she has objections. I haven't heard anything from her yet.
