The Louisiana Cottage law facebook page says it goes to Jindal next but the house website page says it goes back to the senate.  I honestly don't remember from school what comes next.  I thought it passes both senate and house then goes to the governor to sign.  If he wants to veto it, it goes back and needs 2/3 vote to overturn the veto.  Why does it say its going back to the senate if it has passed the house?  Does anybody know?

Looks like there were some amendments to the bill that was originally sent from the Senate. It has to go back to the Senate for them to vote again to approve those changes.

It has still passed though right?   They are only voting on the amendments and it wont change the fact that the bill has passed?

I sat for over 2 hours watching the live feed yesterday hoping for it to pass.  I watched the committee meeting as well and I seriously wanted that one jerk of a house member to shut up.  He is just worried about competition with his restaurant.  Makes me mad.  At one point in time he was just like us.  Not everyone can just go and open a commercial bakery.

The bill has to be passed, with the new amendments in order for it to go to the governors desk for signing.  Different states have different rules legislatively, but in general, should the Senate fail to accept the new amendments it would move to a committee where they would attempt to work out differences- then back to both the House and Senate. It's confusing, but basically any changes (amendments) really make it a new bill- both chambers have to agree to that new bill.

I'm from Oklahoma where we just passed a similar bill and went thru the same process. The changes made for yours may have been simple ( as ours was) and it's just a formality, but for all intents and purposes, your bill has not passed till both chambers agree on the same exact bill, down to the last detail.

AHi everyone. The bill has passed. I was actually on the house floor yesterday on the edge of my seat. It went through the senate floor today with no issues in a matter of seconds and will go to committee tomorrow to finalize then on to the Governor for his signature. It's been a very long and wonderful journey for me. It's surreal and I am thrilled!!
