So I'm sure his is a "cake disaster" but I'm looking for advice on how to improve. I made the below cake yesterday for my nieces 2nd birthday. I'm ok with the cake except for the Minnie Mouse faces and ears...I made the. A couple days prior but when they start drying they don't dry flat.  Should I have just made them the same day and not let them dry?

I think it looks fabulous! I can see where the little face/ears going around the side aren't all perfectly flat against the cake, but I do not think it takes away from the cake at all!!

I otherwise don't have any advice on how/when to make or dry them as I'm a beginner. But I would think that if you did make them and apply them to the cake right away, you could form them to the cake while soft so that they would be completely flat against the cake?

AI think You can apply shortening to wax paper taped around a round cake tin and affix your figures onto the paper and let dry. Figures should mold to the curve of the tin. Hope this helps.

and you can set the cake pan in a drawer so it stays on it's side for you or between some books~

i like the drawer method because you can close it in a little~

your cake is nothing but adorable~

the up from the surface effect works~

kinda spunky like minnie is herself i think~
