could some one give me their cake recipe that they would use when doing a 3 tier pillow cake? would you use the box cake mix, or pound cake recipe,or what? I want to make this cake but I want to use a good recipe. Thanks

if i wanted a nice strong cake

i could use a pound cake for sure

but the cake mix doctor has a brilliant cake recipe in her book for this i think

it's the one with the ice cream

now since some cake mixes are different sizes now you have to adjust for that

or buy two and use 18 total ounces--whatever

but if memory serves

it's three eggs, one cake mix, and one melted pint of ice cream

the fun is that you can make any flavor combinations available in the entire cake mix and ice cream inventory

this cake is sort of between a pound cake and a box mix

 a carving thought for you

One of my first cakes was a pillow cake, really what got me started last year.  I used pound cake (box) as I had not started baking from scratch then.  The pound cake worked out really well and I would probably use it again.
