How would you guys do something like this? I'm looking at a rose and hydrangea configuration for a wedding next month. She didn't purchase a topper so I'm on my own. Do you stick the flowers into a half-ball or fondant?

Thanks!
I use a half ball of styro covered with a thin coating of fondant in case some of it shows through the filler flowers. It is light weight and stable.

ADo you just make individual bouquets and stick them in and arrange them? What size half ball would you use for a 6" tier? I'm looking at small to medium sized roses, hydrangeas, and possibly some mini callas.
Thanks for the replies so far!
I don't really recall the size I used. I do know that I put it together on top of a 6" dummy to determine how it would look on a 6" tier. I carved it down a little to accommodate the arrangement. I insert the largest flowers first then fill in with the smaller. Here are a couple of examples:

(I had to edit because I posted the first pic twice.)
You are so talented, I think you could just use your eye for design. I don't think you will encounter any difficulties.

Depends a lot on the actual size of your flowers, personally I would use a 2" half ball covered in fondant. All my flowers are singles, I arrange as I stick them in.
AThank you Jan for the help and for your nice comment. Your arrangements are beautiful.
Scrumdiddly, thanks for your help. If you use a 2" half ball do you cut the wires super short? I'm just trying to envision using one that small.
I stick them in a blob of fondant that I have worked a bit of Tylose through. I do pop the ball of fondant on its own covered board so I can just pop it on the cake when I am ready and makes for easy removal when the caterers cut the cake , or the bride and groom can keep it separately if they are keeping the top tier. I usually provide a box to put it in.
