Acrylic, glass, ceramic, wooden, slate - I love them!
I think a good cake stand can really make a cake. Do you agree? Who else has a collection of cake stands they use again and again?
Me too, but I'm not very practical so anything too complicated and it all ends in disaster - as it did in one very memorable incident with a less-than-stable tiered wooden cupcake stand I once made.
I'd love to see photos of some of your creations!
they are here and there--i used to have a bunch of them stored on webshots and they reorganized and the photos are here somewhere and then i shut down my other website and i have a few pictures right around here somewhere...
i can always find this one ;)

but i had a cool one i really liked--hmm--probably never be able to find it...
Quite a few people make cake stands out of things they find at thrift stores (or in their basements).
For the bottoms: upside down sherbett cups, candle sticks, cups, sugar bowl, vase, etc.
For the tops: ceramic plate, glass plate, glass round from inside a microwave oven, platter, etc.
AI see all those cute DIY stands...I can't ever find the supplies.
I took the Marina Sousa class & she lists all the materials to make a really cool stand. Umm yea...I could buy one for all that!!
I'm always looking for inexpensive candle sticks or platters. So far, no luck.
There is a woman making the most beautiful wooden pedestal stands. They even come up to 26". Gorgeous! A FORTUNE!!
I need my husband to get some woodworking skills.
Just revisited this post that i did from ages ago and it's so inspiring - I'm a bit busy now but I really want to try making my own at some point.
