What Is Your Favorite Youtube Cake Decorating Tutorial?
Decorating By enga Updated 3 Feb 2015 , 12:50am by charlieinMO
Please, ladies, stay on topic. The title of this thread is "favorite youtube cake decorating tutorial." I get enough "cutesy" videos on Facebook and e-mail.
I started this thread about favorite you tube videos however all the video are not about cake decorating tutorials as you would see if you looked through them. Some of them are favorite videos that don't necessarily have to come from you tube.
Many threads do go way off topic and are sometimes intervened by the moderator. I posted two videos, one about a wedding and a wedding cake prank. Yeah, I thought they were funny and cute so did a lot of other people hence their reason for going viral. So I thought I would share them. Coming here to tell ladies to stay on topic and what you have had enough of is not staying on topic either but I digress.
* I take that back, 7 videos, if it is cutesy overkill I'm sorry for ruining your day.
A[@]Carrie789[/@], that's just how it goes here, no one gets to claim ownership or dictate who posts what, to a limit. But I totally agree with part of what you said. ;)
You are welcome, PastryPet. AZCouture, I didn't realize I was dictating anything. It was a request. To me it is a time waster and annoying to check out a new post only to find it is some video totally unrelated to cake. If that is what everyone else wants, fine. I will simply cancel my subscription to this thread.

"I love weddings. Here's a funny video that out shined the cake."
"Don't you love a good prank?"
I thought that the titles pretty much explained the content. Sorry you felt annoyed and that your time was wasted.

AJust read that article about the state of storefronts. It's such a hard thing to realize. But that's the way it is out here now
Apparently, I am not the only one who dislikes the non-cake-related posts. I got private messages thanking me for speaking up. Guess not everyone wants to risk getting wrathful responses to their opinions. So, although no one can dictate what is posted, I have the right to express my opinion. Oh, and no one "owns" a thread, not even the OP. I read the rules. So, moving on......
This video was mentioned in today's "CakeWrecks." It shows an easy way to make perfectly spherical cakes.

I read the rules too. I also have read countless thread where people post all the time about non cake related things. If you didn't want to read about anything non cake related why did you even look at the videos? As I stated before the titles of the videos indicated what they were about (non cake related).
Of all the terrible things happening in the world do you mean to tell me that some videos showing (in my opinion) inspirational, funny and cute things, that you saw the need to tell me to stop annoying you and wasting your time? WOW!
If you look through the whole thread there is not one post that goes off topic in a negative way.
"Guess not everyone wants to risk getting wrathful responses to their opinions. not even the OP."
This reply leads me to believe that your annoyance is personal and that you want to ruin this thread by making assumptions. If there was a problem with anything that I posted, I'm sure the Moderators would have intervened.
Maybe you should take your own advice. "So, although no one can dictate what is posted, I have the right to express my opinion. Oh, and no one "owns" a thread"

Thanks for your contributions to this thread by posting your favorite you tube video and staying on topic It is already listed as a fav but I'm sure that re-posting it will help someone who hasn't seen it already, thanks again.
Happy Baking!
Bawk bawk bawk, like braying donkeys and chittering hens. How terribly awful to have to endure a funny video. I can't believe some have survived so long without someone finally speaking up. I can imagine the handwringing and worrying up until now. I mean never mind the important things, this is truly horrible! It must stop now, down with off topic "things" and "stuff", it's too much for some!
how could anyone pick just one???? impossible. I watch as many as possible before I try something new. There often may be one single helpful hint in an otherwise unhelpful video that is priceless.
It is also easier to view related videos when it's on a thread about the topic. Partly because of the discussions in the thread, a video, a photo tutorial may be recommended; then questions and more comments. It helps me to reinforce my memory by tacking one thing at a time. Then give it a go in the kitchen.
On this thread you could also scroll through these pages of recommended youtube videos looking for the topic or teacher that you are interested in. or actually find some new an interesting opportunities in viewing.
Here are some new tuts for you guys, she has some amazing ones!

AAny from Lizzo Marek (Artisan Cake Company) or McGreevys Cakes.
If I had to pick one: Lizzo's How to make LMF Fondant! This is how I was first introduced to her and love all her work, personality, etc. I now only use the LMF technique for my fondant.

Hi HoustonBaker, I like hers too. I did use her fondant to make a ladybug cake, it turned out really nice! I also made a unicorn cake topper following her tutorial. She is easy to watch and learn from. I had never made any figurines before watching.
McGreevy's tutorials are fun to watch, she does amazing work. Like another poster said, it's hard to pick just one!
Cookies, Cupcakes, and Cardio is my favorite. I've learned techniques from her that I never thought was possible.
Thanks everyone for sharing your favs! Here's another link for Montreal Confections (not cakes sorry) birdcage tutorial so that you don't have to search for each step.
Enjoy!
AI love Paul Bradford's tutorials. He has over 100 free tutorials on his website. I have learned a lot of new tips from him. I also like the tutorial from Ron Ben Israel on covering cakes with fondant.
Thanks MKC, I'm working on a cake that I saw on one of Ron Ben Israel's tutorials, love him to death. Is it me or does it seem like he would be the life of the party, lol.
I'm going to check out Paul Bradford's website, thanks again for the tip!

MKC: I just looked at Paul Bradford's tutorials, and signed up to view his free ones.
In the first one I watched he said that he put chocolate ganache under icing and fondant. Now that's interesting!
Ahe really does seem like he would be the life of the party-- he had a tv show that was some kind of competition and I really liked it -- very brief it was -- then he started the sweet genius and for a long time it just didn't work for me -- but it's kinda like 'chopped' and 'iron chef' put together and its slowly grown on me-- who doesn't love his stuff though-- love to see your cake when you're finished--
Ahhh, I remember him now MKC, I watched his highland cow tutorial awhile back, (he used a potato ricer to make strands of fondant) lol. He has some nice tutorials and his classes are not too expensive.
K8, I'd love to meet him in real life haa haa if this video is any indication of how he acts in real life. Quoting Liza Minnelli, "There's a party going on in his head that I want to be at !"
I'll be sure to post pics when it's done, going to the grocery store to get the necessary items to assemble a rose petal making machine
yeah he's nuts -- in a very good way -- i've been doing the spoon thing for along time --i got it from jeff arnett who i remember loved rbi's roses -- thanks again jeff!
Jeff's good, I was checking out a pictorial for his upside down method, he gives great advice on CC.
It's a cake decorating video (not really a tutorial) but I was amazed with his technique to box the cakes. Never thought about using spray foam.

Thanks MKC, I don't think anyone will mind about it being a video. He's a very talented cake designer, he is also a member of CC!
