Hello all, I was just surfing the net and taking a break from the usual humdrum lessons in futilityicon_rolleyes.gif when I happened upon the tutorial.  Seems like every body wants to be the next Food Network Star. And where do they get their start? Why youtube of course.  Coming to you live from kitchens across America!!!  Some are great but some give me pause:

http://youtu.be/ufYWmv2sxWY talk about hearing it through the mouths of babes.  o_0

Then I found this one and I couldn't stop laughing because he grew up a little hence the voice change.

And he uses my secret recipe, now don't that beat all,  thought I was the only one who poked holes in their chocolate cake and poured Hershey's chocolate syrup over it.icon_cry.gif

Well spring is in the air amongst other things but I wont get into that right now," lets keep  the air fresh and lovely" ( in my best Bob Ross voice)icon_biggrin.gif.

You know what reminds me of spring? Nice pastel colors (still in character of BR) of crispy, chewy, delicate, and delicious french macaroons or macarons if you want to be a smarty pants and get technical.

I know this thread is about cake decorating tutorials, but I think everyone should try to make macaroons at least once.  My dream is to one day be able to travel abroad starting on the Rhine river across Europe until I get to Spain.  My most beloved pit stop?  Laduree in Paris to taste their famous macarons.

One can only dream I know, but anything to take me away from the never ending Easter cake and cookie orders this week is very welcoming and if I never see a peep again it will be okay.  Peeps, >_<!!! EEEEWwwwwww, nasty stuff imo.

Any who, here are some tutorials on making french macaroons as well as the website for Laduree.  Don't let them intimidate you, they are fairly easy to make once you understand the technique.  So put your best foot forward, (pun intended) and give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

This one uses the Le Cordon Blue technique.

This one is okay, but she gives good tips on trouble shooting if you run into problems.

There is 100's on there

Problem with Lovelytutorials.com is that they steal from other blogs and blatantly place their own logo/watermark over the original creator's watermark.

Don't bite off more than you can chew.  One day you may not be able to swallow.

Well that's not good.

Agreed!  They've taken several of mine and erased my watermark and put there's on it.  Such a bummer!  I wish they would simply give credit where credit is due because people would still want to check out their page if they just were honest about it.

So sorry that happened to you. Have you tried getting in touch with their Web Master to have your pics removed?  Such a shame.

While I was reading and answering  a post early this morning, a member posted in that thread off topic icon_confused.gif,that youtube was shutting down.

Here is a link to the news story.

http://newsfeed.time.com/2013/04/01/watch-youtube-announces-it-will-shut-down/

I really like youtube for quick references if I want to know how to do something in a pinch, The easiest way to learn "FOR ME" is to watch someone else do it first, while another person can pick up on how to do something by just reading it.  Different strokes for different folks.  I love Edna De La Cruz's BC My Way which is a very good way I might add plus this woman is drop dead gorgeous and talented, soooo jealous of her make upicon_cry.gif.  It doesn't matter how you get there folks, just as long as you get there.

There are many tutorials and pictorials on this site that are very useful as well.  And yes, Google is your friend, lol heard that some where, I cant remember where, just thought it was funny.  But some times its' nice to ask a question on this site and have an experienced or not so experienced member explain how they had the same problem and show you how they solved it.

If youtube shuts down, or if it was an April Fool's joke, Oh well, I know that there is a plethora of information on this site.  So as long as they don't shut down the Internet, I think I will be okay.  And if all else fails I always have my books!!!!thumbs_up.gif

I heard this morning that it was an April Fool's joke so I think you can rest easy that youtube is not going away...! Fingers crossed just in case!

He is actually using ganache. I've seen some of his other videos.  He definitely has a passion for baking.
