Number of servings in a basketball?

No, I don't mean how many times can a ball be pitched? (Sorry about the pun.) I have to make a basketball cake and will be using a half sphere pan, 8"x4". I have always had trouble determining servings in a carved cake, but this should be pretty straight forward, no? I would appreciate any help you can give me.

Thanks,

Jan

If you have knowledge, let others light their candles on it.

Never fear shadows. They simply mean there's a light shining somewhere nearby.

go by the amount of batter and fudge it a bit

get the wilton wedding cake data chart

http://www.wilton.com/wedding/wedding-cakes/wedding-cake-data.cfm

and compare the amount of batter you use in the sphere to that much batter/servings listed in the chart

and you should have about the same number of servings from the sphere--maybe a few less

Thank you, Kate. That was what I was thinking I'd probably do. (I'm just glad that I don't have to serve it.)
