So- I'm so frustrated- every time I try and store left over fondant/gumpaste it gets rock hard-- I have tried a few ways- cling wrap- ziplock - containers--
How do you guys store your fondant and gumpaste so that it stays soft?
I save the 2 and 5 lb containers that store bought fondant come in. (I always buy my black and red.) I keep the bags as well. Store it inside and use masking tape to write what color is in the container. For small amounts, I double wrap with cling wrap, then a zip lock. I keep all of them in a rubbermaid container.
I rub mine down with a thin layer of Crisco and double wrap in cling wrap then in a freezer zip lock bag, sucking all the air out through a straw. Then I store it in the refrigerator. If I've made a full recipe, I divide it up into smaller portions as above then freeze.
