Hello Cake World!!
My stepsister has decided on gum paste stargazer lillies for her wedding cake on April 6th. I would like to make them the week before Easter, a little less than two weeks before her wedding. I am stumped for ideas on how to store them. I've been online searching, with no luck. Any ideas?
God Bless,
Crystal
no special storage necessary for two or three weeks--keep them out of the sun
i'd just stick them in some foam and leave them on my speed rack
just gotta keep them out of harm's way
I store them unassembled and then put them together when I need them , I just pop them on paper towels in a box . I make a heap at a time , so I always have some on hand. The last lot I put together where six months old.
THANKS!! I didn't even think of just putting them together when needed...I'll just make/paint all the pieces up ahead of time & assemble them the weekend before & stick them into some foam until they're ready to go on the cake...voila! Thank you both for the help! =)
God Bless,
Crystal
Happy to help , believe it or not I have to make stargazers myself today , I have to keep myself busy as my Mum is having surgery and making flowers calms me.
Thanks K8 , yes very nerve wracking, she is 87 so any surgery is not good , I am her full time carer too , so I am used to her always being here and doing things for her.
Chellescakes, hope all is well with your mum and her surgery went well. It can be very nerve wracking when our elderly parents have medical problems. My dad is 86, and I go through the same things with him. He's suffering from Alzheimer's and it's not fun, but at least he's still with me and he's pretty healthy otherwise, except for those few minor medical problems here and there. So here's to hoping and praying that your mum is fine and that you are, too, because if you're not...you can't be there for her when you need to be. So take care of yourself as well.
