I was thinking of downloading this app for my phone. I know already how much I charge per cake (approximately) but was thinking this app might help.

Has anyone downloaded it and is it easy/helpful to use?

Thanks!

I use the tiered caker app, which I reviewed on my blog. I looked at the reviews for the Cakeulator and they were pretty mixed. If it isn't too expensive I'd go ahead and try it out, why not?

I tried it and did not like it, but they did refund my money. After I downloaded there was a button to uninstall and refund. You should try it and see if you like it.

Ok, I downloaded it on my iPad and was so excited...then I started to use it, it's awful.

Its great in theory but it just doesn't work very well.

i added my chocolate cupcake recipe and for the most part it was pretty accurate as far as ingredient prices.

so then I decided to do a test quote and it was wayyyyy off, even when I increased the profit percentage.

My cupcakes start at $30 per dozen.  My chocolate cupcake recipe, including cupcake liner, icing, box and insert  costs me $8 per dozen to make.

The test quotes sent to myself from the app, had me selling the cupcakes for $10 per dozen and ihave no idea how to fix it.

It is not a user friendly app and makes everything about 10times more difficult.

Hi!  I downloaded the Cakeulator app on my iPhone.  I actually like it, but it has a major flaw: the profit margin button doesn't figure the profit margin correctly.  If you want the program to give you a 50% profit margin, you need to input "100" in the profit spot under options, not "50".  It is kind of a major flaw of their program, so I sent them a feedback e-mail.  Probably an easy fix on their end. :)

Other than that, it is easy to use, and if you play around with different numbers in the profit spot, you can come up with different selling prices of your recipes, instantly.  For $6.99, you can't expect much more than that!

Have been e-mailing back and forth with the Cakeulator gal, and it seems that we use different terms here in the US and in the UK, and that may be playing a role with the profit calculations.

She said they may include both markup and profit margin in an update, which would be great.  I think they are using markup currently, but calling it profit margin, which is where the confusion comes in.

Just an FYI to update my previous post!

Yes i downloaded it a while ago, and it really made you realise just how much to charge for different areas.

I just downloaded it a month ago, and they have already released an update.  I'm very happy with the responsiveness of the developers, and for the price it is pretty handy.  I'm currently entering 200 percent as a markup to get a pretty accurate result for me.
