Warming fondant in the microwave. A revelation!

I purchased a can of Fondarific on clearance. I knew it would likely be hard, but I figured I would add some oil and warm it with my hands and kneed it until it softened...

 

Then I read on the tub that you could microwave it for a few seconds to soften. 

 

Wait...what???

 

MIND BLOWN!

 

I don't know why this never occurred to me, but it didn't and I have the painful  joints to prove it.

 

And it's PERFECT right out of the micro. It rolls like a dream. OMG where has this information been all my life?

aah, but i've never made fondant from scratch. I only use it for the occasional embellishment, so i have many hard little balls of color stored away!

I stock up on it when they're at the Tulsa Fair every year....great price and no shipping!! I love that it stays soft for days after it's applied, and the taste can't be beat. My last tub was rock hard, but a few seconds in the microwave and it works like a dream.
