How do you keep a 2 tiered cake wrapped up?

I don't want to leave it unwrapped and left to the open air to make the fondant stale and cake dry so right now I have the two tiers separate. By the way this is my first two tier cake. Anyway, is it possible for me to wrap up the cake and set it aside for maybe 4 hours just so I know it wont get anything on it. I'm setting it in my house but I'm not putting it in the fridge, however I definitely don't want to just let it set on the counter unwrapped so any tips? Foil maybe?

I just let mine sit on the counter.  It will be fine.

I also let mine sit on the counter. It will really be fine.

But if you really want to cover it, you can get a big box and wrap it in plastic wrap, or make some kind of tent with a sheet if you're just covering it to keep the dust off. Fondant won't go stale in 4 hours.

Once a cake is covered in fondant the cake inside is sealed in and stays fresh - much fresher than it would if it were left uncovered, or just covered in buttercream.

The fondant itself will keep well for several days, up to a couple of weeks - it's primarily sugar and will not go off, it just becomes hard and rather unpalatable after several weeks.

You should never cover a fondant-coated cake with anything airtight as this will cause the fondant to sweat and be ruined, if you want to protect your cake from dust or insects just drape it lightly with a piece of clean muslin cloth.

I never refrigerate cakes either as I feel it makes them dry and hard, but as the climate here in NI is much different from other parts of the world there may be good reasons for doing so elsewhere.
