AMy partners cousins birthday is coming up, and he loves to skateboard.

So I thought a skateboard cake! I sat down to design/sketch, I am blank. I don't know how I'm supposed to begin to design it.

Should I take the easy road and just make cupcakes with mini skateboards?

Is it even possible to carve a skateboard? Advice please!

How about making a skateboard ramp cake instead? Then you could put a little skateboard on top of that, perhaps even with the rider on it. There are quite a few ramp cakes on CC, I have one in my gallery and it wasn't hell to make. Never tried making the actual skateboard, but I know many have - google it and I'm sure you'll get some idea.

Here's the one I made, just to give you an idea (you'll probably be able to make one without that huge air bubble in front, unlike me icon_biggrin.gif)

For my skateboard-crazy stepson. Chocolate cake with sugarpaste.

AWow! A ramp. That awesome thanks guys will definitely do this! With a little skater dude and his board :)

Can I ask for a bit of guidance with the ramp? What size cakes did you use? Does it have to be a dense cake to hold the weight? :) and do they need support dowels or not?

I'm still learning about all that :)

I used quite a dense chocolate cake for mine, baked in 10" square tins. Cut squares to size from that, and built and carved the ramp. I had no need for any doweling. I put the fondant on in panels, I would definitely recommend you do too.

Best of luck with it - do post a photo of your result! :-)

AThanks heaps for all the great tips.

Sorry to ask so many questions. But I guess that's why the forum is here. Haha.

I will definitely post pictures :)
