Cookie Disaster - porn, not bones - now what??

I'm supposedly making about 5 dozen dog bone shaped cookies for  2 reading classes at school tomorrow.  I've done everything I know - chilled in fridge, chilled in freezer, chilled dough overnight, rolled on parchment, adjusted baking time...can't think of anything else to do.  As they are now, I can't use them because they look like male genitalia rather than dog bones!! icon_surprised.gifCould it be the proportions of my cutters? I've done small, medium, and large - all are unusable. Straightened edges of cutters? I think I'll look up the recipe for "puppy chow" and have that to ake as backup unless one of you experts can help rescue these.  They would definitely be a no no, especially for 5th graders!!!!!icon_redface.gif   Thanks.......

I've just about concluded that my cookie cutters are a big part of the problem. They're a bit too flexible and have been flexed over the years!  Gave up and made puppy chow - cookies would have been cheaper!

I found a great recipe on allrecipes.com.  It's called Perfect Sugar Cookies, I think.  I will double check and get back with you....this sitch SUCKS!  No pun intended.  Rolling them thicker may help?  I put a lump of dough on a parchment lined cookie sheet with approx 1" sides on it, top it with another sheet and use a handled rolling pin to roll it out.  The pin is almost as wide  as the cookie sheet and the handles create the guide to give uniform thickness.  Follow her instructions and mine turned out great!

The No fail sugar recipe doesn't spread. :-/ But they can't be THAT bad! lol!

I would rather make 1 cake for $150, than 3 for $50 each.

The person who works for nothing will always have plenty to do!
