hi, im a wee newbie to both baking & this site and was just wondering what people use when designing cakes I.e photoshop etc...

Ive got my drawing on paper but I was wondering if there was a more professional looking idea to use.

Also If anyone has any pictures of theyre sketches etc that would help tremendously! !

thank you

If someone asks, I will create a sketch on paper with pencil.  I may have a pic around here somewhere...will have to post that later.

Sketching on paper is TOTALLY different than putting it on a cake...if you can create but can't sketch, it could cause an artistic vision problem between the designer and the customer!  They might say "that looks like crap" when you know you can totally pull it off on cake!

I know there is software out there for cake design, but I can't think of the name of it??

Any help?

AI sketch. I took the time I creat cake templates in Publisher so the sizes are the right proportion.

When I do the contract, I insert images if there is a specific pattern like a damask.

Oh how do you do that? I'm using publisher for my biz forms and cards.

AI used the "insert shape" tool to draw cylinders or squares. I use grid lines to make sure they are proportional.

I use the "insert image" then size it onto the template.
