Easy to make at home and delicious! It works like fondant, only better, more like edible clay! The tutorials I read do not recommend covering a cake with it, but molding it into characters, flowers and any extras is easy! I use the Wilton melts, but any tempered chocolate is fine

1 bag Wilton candy melts. (12 oz.)

1/4 and 1/8 cup corn syrup. (I use Karo, but any brand works)

Melt chocolate in microwave at 30 second intervals till melted. Stir in corn syrup. It will immediately begin to change and thicken. As soon as it pulls away from the edge of the bowl, turn out onto a piece of saran wrap. Cover and leave room temperature till cooled. Knead until smooth, about 5 minutes or so. If it gets too soft, let rest an hour. It warms in the hand. If it gets greasy feeling, again just let it rest. I am working on Mr. Met made with modeling chocolate. The best part is that any mistake is fixable. Just blend another piece on to cover mistake!

I forgot to add that if you are going to tint your modeling chocolate, you can't use icing colors that are water based. You must use oil based chocolate candy colors. Wilton makes them. You can see the extra logs of 'clay' behind Me. Met. I bought colored chocolate melts, than added coloring while in the melting stage. But you can knead it in as needed also.
