You can buy moulds for daisy centers.  Or you could try rolling to shape and then pressing some netting, with small holes, over it.

Looks like it was pressed into a screen style strainer, painted black and a yellow dot painted into each square.

Cute Cake

Yes, make a thick(ish) circle of fondant; push it onto a strainer (netting probably will be too close and not look right), then let it dry some over a shallow round object.

If you can get hold of Sweet Celebrations by Slyvia Weinstock, there is a similar design on page 161, with the complete instructions on how to make it. Good luck.thumbs_up.gif

I have bought a copy of that book but I won't get it in time, is there any way you could send me a photo or something of the page.??

i would add tylose to some fondant, roll it into roughly the circular size i want, leaving it reasonably thick, then press gently into the bottom of a curved metal wire sieve and leave to harden. then you should have the texture and shape you need. maybe using black fondant would cut down on the work so it just needed speckling with a little yellow?

Yes, I can email you the picture however, FYI this sunflower cake is made of Royal Icing, you will need the biggest leaf tip you can find, but I think the fondant would be a lot nicer. PM me your email address.thumbs_up.gif
