Urgent help needed PLEASE!!!!!

A customer has asked for a quote for a cake very similar to the cake in the link :   http://michellecakes.co.uk/img/port/large/hollywood.jpg.

My challenge is how to carve out the cake to have the stairs. I think the stage can be made out of gum paste made well ahead of time and left to dry firmly. All ideas/suggestions on the cake, the stage and price will be highly appreciated

You could make the stairs Rice Krispies and have it meet up with the cake.

I would do the stairs out of krispie treats and put that sitting on a square or rectangle cake in black fondant. ( so where they have the cake board is the cake, if that makes sense?)

Many thanks to you both for your responses, very well appreciated. Your ideas are fab. I've been looking online (google images for cake with stairs )  and have come across some in which similar cakes (to the holywood one) have been done. I will share them asap. I'm still looking
