Okay, here I am burning the midnight oil again and I am stumped. I am doing another horse cake however this one is for a boy and they don't want any flowers. I am at a loss as to what I can do to this to make it 'boyish'.

Any other nite owls out there who can help out?

How about stars or horseshoes for decoration?

Or bugs? A few caterpillars or ants crawling around in the grass would be cute.

Oooh, I like that idea! Boys love bugs, don't they?

debsuewoo: how do I do clover? Can't picture it in my mind at the moment....

Great idea, debsuewoo!

Tripletmom, you could do four-leafed clover- plenty of good luck with all those horse shoes, too!

Just do a 4-petaled flower in green. There are usually a few tiny yellow or white flowers in with clover-simple to do with a #14 or 16 star tip!

Maybe the clover and a few bugs, too.

Oookay, now I remember what clover is! Duh!!!

What tip do I use for the clover? Flowers are not my strongpoint so I'm a little nervous about that....

Lady bugs are fun to do. I do them on flower cupcakes. Start with a red m'm and just put a little choc. icing for head and dots, I usually use tip 2. I put them on my daisy cupcakes if you want to take a look.
Your cake looks great!

You could do all the bug ideas and put him on a mound of dirt. Boys=Dirt.

tripletmom,
Was this cake from a mold or all hand done? I am stunned at your wonderful work. My niece would LOVE this cake.
Thanks
Judy

good36,

Thank you so much! It is the Wilton Stand Up Lamb pan that I used. The front of the horse head is actually the back of the lamb's head. You have to trim off the ears and face of the lamb, turn it around and build up the horse face with icing. This horse is worth the work, the little guy I made this one for just loved it!
