Chocolate Bc Damask Color Combo Suggestions?
Decorating By cakesrock Updated 6 Mar 2013 , 5:40am by cakesrock
I am doing BC on BC with a damask stencil. The B-day girl requested bittersweet chocolate BC (no fondant!), so I'm a bit stuck on which colors to use to make it look good? I tried to lighten the base color(didn't make much difference), then darken the pattern color and it looked gross when I added the brown color to the BC.
Would I be better using the light chocolate colored base and doing a white damask pattern?
Or is there a technique where I can use actual chocolate and a damask stencil?
Any ideas would be greatlly appreciated!
PS: I have never used a damask stencil and the BC technique looked simplest.
TIA
Can you do the stenciling in white BC? The contrast with the dark brown will look good. Needless to say it is easier to stencil white on brown, than brown on white. Also, practice first on a dummy or cake pan. I have only stenciled with RI on fondant, but I think you would have to chill your BC cakes pretty well before applying the stencil. And use a crusting BC recipe so the stencil doesn't stick.
