The only job I have this week is baseball themed cupcakes for a birthday tomorrow afternoon. So I'm not making them till morning. So not very exciting around here.

What's goin on with all of you?

Craftsy has a sale on and I bought some more of their classes so I will spend some time on the weekend watching.  It's a long weekend here in W.A. so will probably not do too much with cake but try and spend some extra time with hubby as he won't be off at sport all weekend.

Yeah, after I get the cupcakes done I'm finished for the weekend. Gonna spend a whole lot of family time before starting on a baby shower cake Monday morning. Lots of details going into that one so I will be putting in some serious modeling hours so I'm going to do some serious relaxing while I can! LOL!

Hello Everyone,

Not too much happening this weekend. Just a small 1st birthday cake, ninja turtle head cake, and a Low Fat weightloss celebration cake (still don't really understand the whole idea..... lol) It is scale with a small piece of gumpaste "cake" with the weight in ounces and a food label with the total stats that the group has lost, calories, fats, etc.

Nice to have all smal cakes for once. Next week is a BIG week though so I will have to get started on that as soon as these ones are out the door!

Brettley, the weight loss cake cracks me up. I do get the "diet" cakes from time to time but it's usually a fruit filled angel food cake. I, too, am enjoying a little bit more of light work. Next week will be hard work and I do have an order for every week between now and May 1st when I head off on vacation but each week is only 1 cake or 1 cake plus cupcakes. Nice to be bringing in the extra money without the feeling that I can't breathe...that will come after vacation when my summer weddings/anniversaries hit. Happy with what I have for now<G>

It's slowed down a bit after v-day but we still had some decent cakes this weekend. I had a crazy day when I got a call telling me I didn't schedule an opener, but it was easily fixed. We also had a tour come through on tue. from the retail bakers association convention which was a bit nuts. I'm also throwing in 2 from last weekend because I'm proud of them.

I eventually went to bed last night at midnight..... I was up modeling some Easter fondant figures for a friend. I don't charge for the stuff and I am purely a hobby baker and do it for my own stress relief. I got a poppy cutter on Friday and just couldn't wait to try something with it so I used to to make a Lilly pad for a frog I made as well.

I have two boys and they are now at a age where they want to buy me a mothers day present and next Sunday is mothers day here in Ireland. They have been moaning about not having money to buy me a gift.... My hubby works in another country and cant help them organize something so I said I would give them some cash to buy me something and they said that they will get me something for baking as it makes me sooo happy:-) bless them.

The nearest good baking supply store is a fair bit away so we will need to make a day of it and I am supposed to go in with them and tell them a list of stuff I like and then leave them to it so its a surprise.

I totally goofed on my schedule this week, and as a result have been up til 5 am every night since Tuesday, and back up at 8:30. I so need a receptionist!

I'm probably going to need some sort of addiction therapy after all the caffeine I have consumed!

At least everything is almost done and will be ready to deliver tomorrow morning, then back home for a 24 hour 'nap' :)

The weight loss cake is hilarious, I would totally reward myself with cake if I lost weight, lol.

Milkmonkey I love that the kids want to buy you their own present.  When my kids were little we did mothers and fathers day presents but with a very low cash amount on them, so if they didn't make it they had to put their thinking caps on.  One year they bought me 2 reels of cotton as I loved sewing for them.  This meant far more to me than the expensive presents friends got because it really was from the kids and not from my husband.

Meg, I particularly love the green cake! Just lovely. The Mater cake cracks me up! My son laughed out loud when that popped up on my screen!

Milkmonkey...how cute of your sons! Our Mother's Day in America isn't until May but I'm going to Sicily on vacation with my mom so that's my gift. Mom pays for the big stuff but I still need the money for the little stuff so I told them that breakfast and homemade cards would be lovely. I love the way you have decided to do it...point out the things you'd like and then leave the store so they can shop. Like "training wheels" for when they do it on their own in a few years. Around here for Christmas we make "wish lists" so that everyone knows what we would like and post them on the fridge. Then when we go shopping we each have in mind what we want to get the others from the list.

Happy Early Mother's Day!

Ashley...they are all lovely! I really like the "tree" cake. What a nice way to match the theme of the wedding. I just adore details like that at a wedding!

Hi Cat and everyone,  I had to drive four hours in the rain to deliver a wedding cake this week. I also did a Raa Raa the lion cake for my Great Nephew ( also driven the four hours ) .

It was quite an experience this week with the weather really against me . I travelled the cake in two parts as I didn't want to risk it tumbling . The unit at the resort we are staying in , the aircon broke down , now it is humid , hot and raining and I am trying to finish the damn cake . All I can say is thank God that the flowerpaste I make holds up in this weather. I delivered the cake and it made it all the way through the reception and when the Bride visited this morning she couldn't thank me enough.

The Raa Raa the lion cake was a hit as well , ( I did cheat with an edible image for that one ) . Desperate times call for desperate measures particularly with travel considerations and time restraints.

It is still raining , I don't think it is ever going to stop .  I think I am getting webbing between my toes .

Some great cakes in here this week .

Mine is on my Face book page , I tried to upload a couple of times  from the phone but it kind of went haywire.

Chelle's Cake Couture is the name of the page if any one is interested , it is the Birdcage cake .

Well my little holiday finished tomorrow , it will probably stop raining by then I guess however I won't be counting on it . Happy Icing everyone,

Chelle.

Well, between Lent, and the fact that my weight is up a few pounds (having to take quadruple-strength ibuprofen for my recent dental extraction meant lots of snacks!), I haven't been eating sweets since Fat Tuesday. And the eggs in the refrigerator are getting a bit stale, and it's a pain in the butt to drive all the way to the nearest Bristol Farms after Davidson's Pasteurized Eggs, so about the only thing I could bake is a couple rolls of refrigerator cookies in the freezer (which I'm about to thaw out as soon as I click "Submit").

But I did get the final picture I needed for my 51st birthday cake in June: PD photographs of Squad 51 and Engine 51 are available on Wikimedia Commons, but the Wikimedia Commons picture of Station 127 (where all the Station 51 exteriors for Emergency! were filmed) is not PD. So on my way home from a day of docenting at the International Printing Museum, I stopped by the station, and took 4 pictures, then modified the best one in GIMP, to remove the power line, and change the station number to "51" (it still says "Robert A. Cinader Memorial Fire Station"). This morning, I worked out sizes and layouts so that I can just squeeze 2 of each graphic element (so I have a spare) onto a single sheet of edible printing media.
