I'm starting to look into a 2nd legal kitchen at home. For those who have one, what advise to you have? Where did you get equipment? Did you get used or new equipment? Any advise would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

For all those who have a 2nd legal kitchen at home
Hi CakesByMichele! I am currently in the process of building a licensed kitchen in my home as well. Since this is not technically a commercial facility(just a licensed kitchen), I don't need to have "commercial" appliances in my area (WI). I've found some really great deals on Craigslist for a gently used double oven and fridge/freezers, so I've already purchased them. My parents remodeled their kitchen not too long ago, so they're giving me their cabinets for little to nothing.
I don't know how busy you plan on becoming, but I'm making my space big enough to accommodate 2-3 other workers if need be. I'm going to have a separate baking room and another adjoining decorating room. I have enough space for 2 refrigerator/freezers and a vertical baking rack in the baking room. I'll also have a 3rd refrigerator in my decorating room. In the baking room, there will be over 10' of counter space, and the decorating room will have 14' of counter space, plus a 7'x4' island. Not a huge space, all together approx 335 square feet, but very efficient (I hope!).
My biggest purchase will be the 3 compartment sink. I've done A LOT of research and price checking, and so far either Ebay or the Webstaurant store are the best prices (for my area, there may be a local warehouse near your area). My husband is doing all of the work, so we won't have to hire someone for that expense. We just started construction in February and hope to be finished in early May -- Just in time for my summer weddings!
I hope this helped you a bit...Best of luck to you :)

Used triple sink, commercial cooler, freezer. 20 qt. mixer, ss equip stands and tables, ingredient bin, speed rack, hand sink, metro shelves, storage cabinet, sheet pans and desk. New building addition, cabinets and fabulous Deluxe oven. Smallwares a mixture of used and new -- Ikea is great for these.
