ASomeone was just asking the same question last night. I would do a search on this board
Sorry, I should have specified that MeghFarr is on Cake Central. I came across her cake today browsing the recent uploads.

Theres a thread about it... Good luck!! Post some pics when oh get it! :)
I made a 2 tier birch cake last December and used all buttercream frosting. I frosted the cake roughly with white, then went back and added "globs" of white with a small spreading knife, but pulled the frosting back with a sweeping motion to create the peeled bark effect. I tinted some of the extra white frosting a brownish color. I used a "brush-like" stroke with a small spreader to blend it in to the white in random streaks, finishing some areas with an actual water color paint brush to blend. It's hard to describe, so I'm sorry if I'm not making any sense...but after the wedding I was told some of the guests didn't even realize it was a cake, they thought it was just a decoration. Good luck with your project, I hope you have as much fun as I did!!
AIt's actually not mine, I too am on the hunt to find out how to do it! The stunning one I posted was from The Peoples Cake. I guess they are coming out with a tutorial very soon!!
AThere's a great tutorial on Cake Masters from the original designer that I purchased but I'm interested in seeing if there are other successful methods to achieve this look.
This is the version I came up with for a special bride who id undergoing her third treatment for lymphoma :o(. I wish I had a picture with her topper and fresh flowers..
The peoples cake (Kaysie Lackey) has the tutorial out, it is on Cake Masters, but it is $35. I don't get paid enough to make wedding cakes to pay for tutorial videos too! Jneff64, any advice? this is the one that my cousin wants next month! I'm kind of freaking out!
Ladies, I'm working on a post about the one that I did. If you are interested I'll post the link here once it's completed :)
I had this same picture but I told her I couldn't do it tilted but I just colored my fondant a light gray although I believe some use chocolate fondant. but I measure the circumference of my cake round to see how many inches I needed to go around and measured the height of my round and cut it to those measurements then I just took a small piece of fondant to make the knot and used a modeling tool to make the hole then I applied it to the fondant and took another tool to make the grooves and then carefully wrapped it around the cake, then I diluted some white food coloring and painted the cake, then I took brown to detail the grooves and the inside of the knot. I couldn't find any tutorials on it so this was my version but the bride was very happy with it . Good Luck I hope this helps

AI tried to get onto cake masters to take a video class, and the verification letters they make yo type are so ridiculous, that I gave up after 20 attempts! Crazy! Nancu
I colored my fondant gray and then measured how big I needed each tier to be and pre-cut each strip so I co0uld 0add the knots and grooves then I darkened them with a brown food color then I applied to the cake then did a white wash with bright white and a flat paint brush. Hope this helps
