Flavor Packet Mix in Candy Melts?

Hello :)

I am a cake pop maker and I have a question:

Has anyone used Duncan Hines Flavor Mix packets in candy melts?

I like the color of the cherry vanilla packet mix and want to mix it into white candy melts but I am not sure how this will turn out.

Just wanted to see if anyone has tried this.

It's my understanding that when adding flavoring or coloring to candy melts, they have to be "Oil Based" or it will ruin it.    So, my guess would be no. I'm not sure about the powder... Melt a handful, sprinkle some powder in and see what happens.  LorAnn oils are perfect for adding to candy melts because they are oil based.

If you are just using the candy melts by themselves, you must use oil based colors/flavors.  If you are making candy clay add your colors/flavors to the corn syrup (usually warm the syrup slightly to make mixing easier, and it works better with colors that are slightly more liquid.  If you are making a ganache type mixture, add your colors/flavors to the cream.  If you add non oil based colors/flavors directly to candy melts, they will seize in the same way that chocolate does if you add water to it.
