HELP! CAN'T GET COLOUR RIGHT, ANY TIPS?

Hi I am making a wine bottle for the top of a cake, its meant to be white wine so am colouring green, but I can't seem to get it right. Any tips on what colour to add to help shading, when it is done I am going to go over it with confectioners glaze so that will help make it look like a bottle. At the moment I have used some spruce green, black and red, but its still quite pale green, id say its like moss coloured, Is this ok or should I add another colour?

Add your colouring to the glaze!!!!

Aw thank you, I ended up using a squeeze of lemon and dark green paste and painted it on, it has given the right shade but it streaky! :S . So I am hoping that if I add it to the glaze it will get an even finish. Do you think it will or shall I start again? x

Hi, just one more question to anyone who might know, when I paint my bottle with confectioners glaze is it best to paint it first then lift it onto icing on the cake or have it on the cake already and then paint it? Will it drip and dribble? And how sticky is confectioners glaze after it has dried? Will I leave finger marks if I pick it up? So many questions haha, thank goodness for cake central! :)

Paint it first (allow each coat of glaze to completely dry before you do the next one).

 

Once dry, it's completely dry and you won't leave finger marks if you touch it.

Thanks so much, i am very excited to do it! I ordered that glaze today. I will want to use it on everything and make everything shiny! :)

Nah!  It looks good, but you wouldn't want to eat something that's got a few coats of it!!!
