Hello everyone, I'm quite new to cakes and cakecentral, so thought I would ask some advice for my first thread. I have seen some beautiful art noveau style cakes with almost stained-glass effect floral designs, rather like a Tiffany lamp :-) they have black lines separating the coloured sections, and having experimented with black ( or rather grey!) royal icing in the past, I think I would like to try piping gel. I havn t ever bought or used it, and was wondering if anyone could give me any insight into what it's uses are, good brand, any tips etc? Thanks for your time everyone, and lovely to be part of such a supportive community xxx

Not piping gel related, lol, but for cakes like the ones pictured I would draw the black with an edible pen, then hand paint the colours in using gel colouring mixed with alcohol.

There was just another thread about what to do with piping gel, http://cakecentral.com/t/726755/what-can-piping-gel-be-used-for

I just buy big tubs of it from my local cake supply store, they package it themselves, so no idea what brand it is, lol.
