Anyone else second guess themselves all the way until handing over the cake?

I always find myself second guessing my design, right up until the cake is gone. 

 

I'm doing an UNO themed cake for my friend's son's first birthday tomorrow, and I've already drastically changed the design once but as I'm getting ready to put it together I'm rethinking it again, wondering if it could look better. 

 

Argh!

From the smallest cake to the biggest cake, from the easiest cookie designs to the hardest, the simplest of bons bons to the more involved ones I am with you on this one..I think we as the creator of the masterpiece will always have the thought of doing better lol..or waking up in the middle of the night because we figured it out in a better way lol..I even second guess myself 2 weeks after delivery lol.

Yes, that's part of the reason I have a love/hate relationship with cakes. I will literally lie awake at night thinking of how I could have made it better and whenever I deliver I hold my breath waiting for the client to say they like it. It's getting a bit better the more I do, but the nervousness is always there!

 

That's why I kind of prefer selling cupcakes. I've never stayed awake at night stressing over a cupcake :) I'll churn out hundreds of them without breaking a sweat, but ask me for a two-tiered cake and I'm having an anxiety attack!

I literally lay awake at night thinking of design ideas and how to make them better. consumes my mind!

Thats WHY I do a sketch of the design - it keeps you on track with what you are supposed to be doing LOL
