Now that california is a cottage food state I can be legit. my only worry is, I have a full time job as a chef. The bakery/ deli i work at is in a very veggie and vegan friendly area and they want me to use my recipes there. I feel bad saying no to them and then turning around and using my recipes to start a side business. I want to just do vegan pastries on sat and sunday at local farmers markets. Does it seem like a back stabbing move? they know i do cakes on the side and that I have a second job teaching baking. My second job doesnt take away from me working at the deli. The farmers markets i would be going to the bakery does not go to anymore.
I really feel like i have the stability of a job to fund me starting my business and would allow me a little more income to support myself (the minimum wage i make at my chef job barley covers bills). My aunt very recently and suddenly died leaving behind her 11 month old son (my godson) the extra income could afford me extra time to spend with him.
Ive filled out the paperwork looked into zoning, permits, the only things i need to do is insurance and actually growing some balls and turning in the paperwork. How is it for so long i wished this would be a reality now in freaking. any advise would be great
