I know that this isn't about cake but I would really like any help anyone from LA or MS can give.

My MIL is cleaning out her books (christian) in her home and is looking for a church to donate them to. (about 50 or so books) Preferably a church that has been damaged from Katrina. Her only wish is that these books are directly donated to the church not through an organiztion where she won't know where and if they were recived. If there is anyone that belongs to a church that has been damaged from the storm please pm me so that we can make shipping arrangements directly to your pastor or deacon. Thank you in advance for any and all of your help. This really means alot to us to be able to help another church restart their library again.

You guys are great and know that this will be a success!! thumbs_up.gif

First Baptist Church in Gulfport...it was wiped out...one whole wall on the side is gone and everything was under water, they're very very close to the beach there. My father (and grandfather was) is a church furniture salesman...has been since I was 2 years old. He sold the church their pews over 20 years ago and I was there with him (as a little girl) at the presentation he gave to the committee to get the job. They're holding services now, believe it or not!, in the high school gymnasium for the time being, but they have to completely rebuild their sanctuary and most of the other buildings on the church campus.

Here's their mailing address: First Baptist Church Gulfport, P.O. Box 70, Gulfport, MS 39502. Another church in the area is helping them out with (I guess) administrative stuff, Crosspoint Church, and you can contact them to speak with someone with the First Baptist Church at (22icon_cool.gif 328-2481. (I found all of this info online, so I don't think there's a problem posting the address & phone # here, since anyone can find it themselves posted online.)

I'm sure they would gratefully accept any donation you or your mother would like to give!! That's just AWESOME!! icon_biggrin.gifthumbs_up.gif

Thanks JennT. I have sent you a PM. This means alot to us that we're able to help a church reestablish their library. Any one else know of any other churches like this? Just in case this church isn't able to take any donations?! Thanks so much!
