A I am making a baby rump cake I used rice krispies for the legs, butt, and feet. I iced them covered them with fondant but they are lumpy. What did I do wrong?

ARKT,s I think you have to ice a couple times until you have them nice and smooth. Its either that or the fondant didn't adhere to the icing I would guess.

I always cover RKT with melted chocolate or ganache (if I happen to have any I need to use up) for a smooth finish.  I know a lot of people run the krispies through a food processor or blender for a couple seconds before adding marshmallows to minimize lumps.

Would you just roll it in the melted chocolate?

I let it cool just a little so it is a little spreadable and put it on with a spatula.  Then I pop it in the fridge to firm up and pull it out to smooth with a hot knife and/or a pastry brush.

I prefer to use ganache, but sometimes I don't feel like making it icon_wink.gif

Beautiful cake! I cover the rice krispies in a thick layer of buttercream, then put it in the fridge for an hour. Once I take it out it is firm and I coat in another layer of buttercream. Also make sure the fondant layer is thick enough! I use rice krispies all the time!
