To delete or not to delete?

Thread Starter

I just posted a cake on my facebook page and someone came along and commented that she could make one just like that, and then proceeded to say how she would do it...

I am annoyed, i'm sure I don't have to explain why. The question is, do I delete the comment? Should I encourage her to make one and post her own pic? Should I just ignore?

She's not one of my friends, clearly not a potential customer, since she's so talented...

What I want to do is find out where she lives and glare at her from my car window.

LOL

Suggestions?

Block her. This is not a friendly response. She probably can't qualify for the CFL.

I would delete her comment and ban her from the page. Unless you give away your decorating tips and answer people's questions regarding the techniques to achieve the cake posted there is no reason to put up with her comment. But that's just me.

I would first send her a comment explaining that you find her comment rude. I would tell her that I have removed her comment.

It's never "just cake!"

You may get a cake for $way to little but you won't get this cake!

I think you have to ban before you delete. I just deleted a snarky comment last week, then tried to ban, and there was no way to do it.

My comment was something along the lines of me being greedy, and she had a business too, so she knows what prices are.

thank you, ladies. i discovered that on facebook it is possible to sort of mute a person. you can delete it from other's views without deleting it from the poster's view. This is what i did.

Why don't you post the cake here, and her instructions, and we can all laugh at her? icon_wink.gif lol, j/k but it may make you feel better!

Did she give pricing and contact info, as well?

I'd be so tempted to un-mute her and post the comment that someone else said in that first "Price the Cake" thread to the effect of "No you will get A cake for that price, but not THIS cake" and then post the link to that thread...

She didn't, thank goodness. I'm so irritated. I was really pleased with this cake, and no, it's not a difficult cake, but for goodness sake! How clueless must you be to come onto another person's business page and make any other comment besides, "I like it" "I hate it" and "where can I buy it?"

That's one of the hazards of a Facebook presence...anyone can post anything they want, and every negative post is visible to everyone until you remove it.

If you do restore the post be very careful how you reply to it. As the business owner your customers will expect a higher standard of professionalism from you than from a random commenter.

Well isn't she a peach?  As a business owner I'd have a really hard time replying in a manner that wasn't offensive icon_wink.gif  I'd sure like to see her try to pull that cake off though.  And a rundown of how long it took her to do it....if she's really got the talent.
