hello!

looking to make something for valentine's day that feels extravagant.

(a first for me. i mean even making anything,

having anyone to make it for, you get it, i want it to be really nice.)

have a bunch of chocolate frosting already...

another recipe gone not quite right i attempted to fix w/ volume...

and i'm nothing if not a frugal lady. so need to use. anyway...

i found a recipe for a layered cake w/ strawberry cake & red velvet cake layers,

but it's topped w/ a buttercream frosting.

and everything i can find on red velvet cake says do not use chocolate frosting.

so what i came up with today:

layers of vanilla cake and strawberry cake.

raspberry jam between. topped w/ the chocolate frosttng.

too much? just enough? really weird?

i don't really have the time to make a trial cake.

does this seem like it might be tasty?

thank you thank you for any advice...

especially about the raspberry jam between the layers...

a recipe? is it okay to buy a jar of jam and use that?

well, no time to look for strawberry extract.

going with vanilla cake and almond cake layers.

(but dyed pink and deep red... because that's what i care about the most. the color.)

raspberry jam between, chocolate frosting, dotted with raspberries.

also i got a tube of white frosting so i'll dot that around the top i guess

or just write a silly cheesey message.
