AI've just been asked to make this exact cake but had to turn the customer away as I'm petrified of snakes and its too realistic :( I felt like such an idiot lol Your cake looks awesome btw
I think you should try to make one just for fun, perhaps it'll help you get over the fear of snakes. especially if you cartoonify it a bit
Thanks to all of you!
It was extremely difficult to carve this thing out so it made sense!
I have a boa as a pet, my husband is into snakes lol so it was really inspiring to look at it and copy it.
As far as your fear of snakes, I think once you get in the process of making it, baking the cakes, carving and all that you'll be too focused to look at the big picture. It wasnt until I was completely done that I took a step back and saw the final product, before then, I was all up on there getting the small details done. You should try it!!
Did you use the tutorial from Northstar cakes? I saw this online that had the exact same colors that you used. Wondered if it was worth buying?
Thanks.
You did a fantastic job. I thought it would be a lot harder. Guess it will go on my to do list.
Bumblebeez.... I am with you... the cakes look fabulous but tooo life like for me! lol....
AThis is amazing. I want to make one for my boyfriend as he is a snake breeder. That looks like the albino burmese python he has. Very realistic!
I want to try a "snake" can you please tell me how you get the Textured skin? Thanks in advance
I have the tutorial by North Star Cakes (It's incredible, worth every penny)... http://northstarcakes.com/
She uses an impression mat for the skin.
Here's a free tutorial where the decorator uses something really cool for the texture...it looks great: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.418585258189614.87684.134883726559770&type=1
