How do I make a 3D unicorn head?

I need to make a 3D unicorn head out of cake.  I'm considering carving as much of the basic shape out of cake as I can, then mixing cake and icing to mold on the additional features before Icing, then covering in fondant.  I'm afraid it will be very front heavy, and I don't want the nose to fall off.  How do I do this?  I have an order and need to have done by the 22nd.

hmmm, running close to the finish line with this response --hope all is going well

 

i'd certainly use some inner structure in that head and for the horn and the ears too maybe
