Anyone know how long royal icing can be kept and used? I keep mine in sealed containers in fridge and usually use the meringue powder. Just curious?

Meringue powder royal is good kept in the fridge for a week, and the Wilton books say it can be re-beaten to restore texture. I have never kept it this long myself.
Egg white royal will keep in the fridge for 2 days--it does not work as well to re-beat it for flowers, but it is perfectly fine for lace and sticking things together.
I have stored both kinds with a damp paper towel over the icing in small airtight plastic tubs.

Not sure how far you can push it, really. I've certainly kept royal icing around a week (meringue powder version), and just whipped it back into shape when I needed it again.
I can tell you that, when dried, it lasts decades and decades! We have royal icing decorations (thousands of them, my cake-decorator grandma never let a drop of royal icing go to waste, and she was a piping goddess) that are easily from the 1960s, and still in perfect shape.
