I just received my 2nd wedding cake order within a week of receiving my very first wedding cake order!

(Sigh) So I'm kind of overwhelmed at the moment trying to make sure I price my cakes accurately. One bride wants a 4 tiered square cake with fondant and ribbon ( which she picked out and wants to mail to me). I know its usually charged by the slice and area you live in, so I decided on 2.50/slice plus 0.50 extra for fondant bringing it to 3.00/slice. For 175 guests thats 525.00 but I'll only quote 500.00 since she is providing the ribbon and topper. Is that too much for me being a home baker? Bakeries in the area starts at $3-4/slice just for basic decor and buttercream. I just want to make sure I'm being fair.

AVery pretty cake. The brooch is available for purchase at diamond party confetti. They also sell rhinestone bands.

In case you did not notice. There is a gray fondant band at the base of each tier then the black ribbon is added to give distance between the bottom of the tier. Be sure to charge for that.

AThanks for the feedback I'm still trying to get the hang of it all pricing wise! LadyViola how much extra would you charge for the rhinestone bands? I'm in central Texas so brides love their bling! I need a beginners guides on all things extra lol.

I would go to Hobby Lobby simply because there is one nearby. I did a cake with rhinestones on it and got the supplies from Hobby Lobby. I think it may have cost me an extra $25 just for the rhinestones. But I used alot of them. Of course the ones in your pic look slightly different than the ones I used. Check out that link up top and once you figure out which rhinestones you're going to use, price out how much you need and add it to the price of the cake. :)

APlease, please remember that the rhinestones from a hobby source will not be foodsafe. The ones at diamond party confetti are & are gorgeous & made with crystals. Just reminding. I charged the bride exactly what it cost to purchase them including delivery. I didn't charge for applying them.
