Debbie Browns Tom and Jerry Birthday Cake Questions

I am making the Debbie Browns Tom and Jerry cake I was wondering if anyone that see this post has made this cake if so my question is do I make the ears in advance and let them dry or do I make them the day I make the head  if they are made in advance how did you make the shape? any help or info about this cake is greatly appreciated
