I don't know why, but the price of my beloved Penguin Elite shortening has shot up from $42 for a 50# cube to $65.  My BakeMark guy is trying to sell me the Vreamay icing shortening now.

Just curious if anyone here uses Vreamay and if so, what your opinion is of this product after having previously used a trans-fatty hi-ratio shortening for icing.  I understand that it is ZTF.

Thanks!

Hi there,

I've pretty recently switched to the Vreamay Icing Shortening... it's great. Wished I'd always used it actually. Getting better results.

ABumping. I'm researching the different shortenings (for dairy-free BC options etc) and while I've read a lot of praise for Sweetex I've found a few posts on this Vreamay but not a whole lot has been said about it. What is the gist on it? I know it's trans fat free which is a plus but how does it perform compared to Sweetex? Anybody tried both?
