I really need your help people...
I am making a cake for my son's 4th birthday and I am in a bit of a dilema about how to make the wings for it. Most of you probably wont have heard of the cake I'm trying to make but you may be able to google it, it's a 'Twigs' cake from a tv show called 'Tree Fu Tom' which is on in the UK at the moment. Basically the cake needs some large wings which look like oak leaves coming out of a little 'elf's' back. The cake is going to be a 3D model of this character so the wings would be max of 20cm long by 8cm wide. I have thought about using sugarpaste/modelling paste but I'm not sure this will work as I don;t know how I would hold it up/support them. I've looked at how to make gelatin wings but these all seems to be quite small from the tutorials and pictures I have seen.
Any suggestions anyone? I really want to make them out of some edible material rather than paper or similar so it is a 'real' cake and not a cake with 'bits added'.
Any help gratefully received!!!
Thanks x
