I have a school reunion coming up and they have ordered a few different things, most of which I can do with my eyes closed however they have asked for Chocolate cupcakes with a hazelnut filling & instantly my mind went blank!

Does anyone have a hazelnut filling suitable for cupcakes at all?

&

What frosting do I finish them off with? Chocolate maybe?

Help!!!

I second the Nutella suggestion.

AYou could maybe fold in some whipped cream to lighten it.

Also, franjelico is hazelnut liqueur. You could put that into a whipped ganache.

Frangelico Frosting:

In a large heavy-bottomed sauce pot, dissolve 1/8 tsp. salt in 2 T. Frangelico Liqueur and 1/2 tsp. vanilla.  Add 2 C. butter and 1/2 C. heavy cream, and sift in 1 C. dark cocoa.  Over low heat, stir constantly until the butter melts, about 3 minutes.  Remove from heat and transfer to a large mixing bowl.  Gradually sift in 6 C. confectioner's sugar until smooth and sft peakrs form.  Cool to room temperature before using.
