Hi everyone! First time poster, long time lurky-loo. Coming out of hiding to ask if anyone has any idea how this bacon cookie was frosted! Layers of thin, wet royal icing? Gel colour painted? Attached piece of painted fondant? (Note the bottom layer of frosting sticking out at the bottom.)

It's from Whipped Bake Shop in Philadelphia who seem to have magical bacon cookie powers.

Seriously, it's keeping me up nights.

Thanks!

i'll take a crack at it

if i was to set about to make one

it looks ridged--a 3-d effect?

i'd let the white glaze dry

and swirly smear on some of the reddish color

maybe use a 104 to pipe a stripe of reddish

let it dry it upside down

then scrape off a bit off the top to level it a bit

maybe?

tremendously awesome--love it!!!

I bet it was striped with the colors and then swept over with a small spatula.  That would give you that marbled look (with practice of course... LOL).  I bet that bottom layer is just the flood outline and not a full alyer of extra icing.

yes spatula-d good call

the little light colored polka dotted fat globules are so convincing

really well done

biggest problem is we'll never really know and we'll all be up at night

jenny--you gotta find out!!!

AOoo, that spatula thing sounds like it could be it! I'll have to get experimenting. Thanks for the input guys.

You know, I think I'd be even MORE impressed if they WERE bacon flavoured. O_O

I think they piped a line of red then white a few times then smeared it.
