Hey all! I'm relatively new to the cake decorating thing, but I find it to be really fun. I entered a cake decorating competition a couple of years ago in the adult beginner buttercream only division. I was really proud of my cake even though I didn't win, but my question is inspired by the girl who did win. She did this really elaborate design. Her cake seemed to have different levels on it if that makes sense. It was a one tier cake, but looked like the flowers were in the background and then the girl she had done was more in the foreground...not sure if I'm making any sense, but my point is she said she did the whole thing out of nothing but buttercream. Does anyone have any idea how to do something similar? Really appreciate the help! Any other ideas on how to make unique looking things with buttercream only are welcome too! Thanks yall!

IMO Thanh Thanh is the MASTER of buttercream!!  She has made pine cones, pine branches, amazing flowers, rediculously perfect scrolls, etc.

Check our her photos...she is amazing!!
