Hello everyone! I am new to this forum. I have been making cake for only a year so I consider myself as an amateur. Well, anyway, I have a client that wants a wedding cake and she sent me a photo of the design that she want. My question is how much do you charge on a cake something like this?

the bottom cake would be about $250 $300 it's a sculpture but pretty straightforward

the three top tiers would be $10-$12 per serving give or take--those are also sculpted but also pretty straighforward for a tt cake

then some people think, "wow that sounds like too much i can't charge that much."

i do the opposite, i think

"wow i can get more than that for this i'd hate myself if i sold it for x amount" and i up it

i know my compatriots here use charts and graphs and excel sheets and formulas oh my--

i do some math and eyeball it

that's how i'd price that in my world

i would disavow myself from any of the gemstones & broaches if they be real

i love this cake -- it's so pretty -- eye candy!

there is a world of expertise in this--several worlds in fact

after one year at it do you have these skills or are you going to work/practice yourself into it??

so i guess my advice is

charge way more than you think you should

and

don't discount it for lack of experience

practice until you get it as good

or better than this

rise to this level or

pass on it

Lots of details I would say $ 350

Such an odd design, and yet so awesome too, I like it! 3 wonky tiers and a carved bottom tier...lots of cake. $600+ most likely. Probably more upon confirmation of servings needed.
