Ganache help needed urgently- amounts needed for a 12 x 5 round

oy! I am making my daughter's birthday cake and making the ganache tonight. I am using white chocolate on the bottom tier, 12 inch round by 5 inches high. I used the Ganacherator to calculate how much chocolate and cream in will need (I know it is a 3:1 ratio), but the amoount given that i would need for the white choc is 2345 grams- it just seems so high!!!! I have about half that poured out now in a bowl and it is a lot.

Anyone have any insight? Does this sound correct? Has anyone covered a large round in white choc? What were your amounts (roughly)?

Thanks so much!!!  I appreciate your help.

Now, onto make the dark chocolate for the top tier :)

hope all went well

i have to convert to get to ounces

five pounds of chocolate???

for a 12 inch that's 5 inches tall

it sounds like a fairly reasonable amount

you'd have leftover for sure but depends on how thick it goes on

i would be oh so made at me if i did not have enough on the first pour

i have covered w/ganache but not in a long time

hope all went well!!!

my cookies are prettier than your cookies because this is the second time i substituted my opalescent sanding sugar when i ran out of sugar to make the batch ha!

Well I've done an 3 layer 8" round cake and I done 150ml of double cream and 300g chocolate, and that was plenty, I would have said, if I was to put more in between the layers it would have been too much?
