Happy New Year, to everyone!! My dear CC friends, once again I am in need of your helpicon_eek.gif. I have  tips and have seen some you tube on construction of one, but still feel the need for reassurance that I can make this happen !icon_eek.gif. Even if I am still in shock!!!My sister has ask me to make her baby shower cake. She has given me this cake to replicate as close as possible, minus the feathers  and stars.

Would it be good as a 12in, 9in and 6in tiers ... so that it gives me enought of an edge all around? I will be using one of these tutorials

One thing that is very good is that the bottom of sample cake is not carve... that should make it easier for me, don't you think??

Questions:

1.  How do you neatly carve in the middle of the tiers and how deep should it be?

 2. I know the layers have to be cold to be cut into, but do I  wait for it to be room temperature before putting      the MMF on it??

3. I have a good scracht vanilla recipe, but I like using box mixesicon_redface.gif.  Do you think it will be safe enough? The following link is of the biggest and tallest cake I have made so far, it was for my mother's birthday

.The cake is for the first Sunday of February and will be marble all inside so as to see zebra stripes inside too.(seen the tutorial for that one also) I will practice this week. and see how it goes.

I  THANK YOU in advanced for your time and generosity sharing your knowledge!icon_smile.gif

CIAO,

Soledad

use a paper pattern to cut out the correct size shape

carve it so the surface is flat--use a... one of those things with the bubble in it--a level

i have a level i keep in my cake stuff

get a real small one for this project

a three inch  difference in tiers sounds good to me

i use box mixes--especially for cakes that get chilled--i like them better than cake recipes that get chilled

your mom will be thrilled that you worked so hard for her birthday!!!!

allow yourself plenty of time for your project

(link did not work to see your tallest cake)

i apply fondant to cold cake

some people only apply fondant to room temperature cake

individual choice
