Rice paper technique

Hi all,

 

Anyone have an idea how to achieve the patterns on this cake?  I think it's done with rice paper, but:

 

  - Is it cut out with a Cricut or other machine?

  - How does it not dissolve into the fondant after a period of time?

oooh is that beautiful--so delicate

 

she says they are die cut

 

i have seen punches that will cut similar to that

 

i mean i've never used a cricut but it certainly is a dye cutter

 

and this is where i am wondering again about copyrights & cricuts

Thanks!  I think the Silhouette machine allows you to create your own designs, so that would eliminate the copyright problem.  Just wondering how the rice paper doesn't melt into the fondant?

i don't know--never ever used one--but i'm so curious

 

there's probably no way to sandwich it between a couple pieces of paper either

 

because it wouldn't sit still for the cutter huh

 

long shot--could you secure the edges, the perimeter of the rice paper to a piece of paper

 

then the piece of paper could atttach to the sticky board

 

they have those sticky boards don't they?

 

to hold the paper in place so the cutter can securely operate (i think)

 

and the rice paper on top might get cut too???

 

maybe???

 

then just harvest enough rice paper diecuts from what's in the middle?????

 

but i've seen hand punch cutters similar to those too
