so my husband unearthed an ancient mail box news from looong ago

in it evelyn fryatt reported that there was a delicious promotion at a car dealership called

"the sweetest deal in town"

evelyn's twin sons covered a real ford taurus in 'chocolate'

(they actually used confectioner's coating aka almond bark same/same as chocolate)

they then star tipped the bumpers, hub caps, door handles and mirrors with royal icing

(windows were not covered)

the prize was to see who could guess how much 'chocolate' they used

  let's see who amongst us can get the closest answers

so two questions:

1. how many hours do you think it took the twins to do the deed
2. how many pounds of chocolate did it take????

What's a Ford Taurus?

I would say 50 pounds of chocolate, and 10 hours.

Wait, I have twin sons, and I know if I send one, I get the work of one little boy, but if I send them both, I get half as much work done, lol.  So, 15 hours.

A Ford Taurus is a mid-size car, of which we have owned many and there's still one sitting in the driveway. :)

Well, it would take me 80 pounds and 75 hours. Of course, 39 of those pounds would be consumed by me and whoever I put on my team (another chocolate lover, of course) and the other 65 hours would be spent getting over the mulligrubs from eating so much chocolate. Hmmmm, I would have to say 120lbs of chocolate only because I know when I was making my daughter's suckers for her birthday party, it took way more pounds than I expected and about 5 hours since there are two boys working on it. I'm sure I am way off! Any cake that I have tried to estimate my time has not been assumed accurately. :)

Well, I put my entry in after I read the answer, which is why it matches yours exactly after you subtract the on-site consumption of chocolate and the considerable recovery time. I have to say the figures in my mind were nowhere near the actual ones! But I realyy enjoy brain games, so thanks again.

i was so surprised it was only 41 pounds

those twins certainly were patient--ten hours--dang!

plus piping stars on bumpers -- wow! no turntables either ;)

and if i had done it it surely would have marred the finish on the car when removed
